Seven children from Bradford Secondary Schools, Belle Vue Boys, Belle Vue Girls School, and St Josephs Catholic College in Bradford were chosen to represent the UK and produce a short film to celebrate the Olympic Games. The film will become part of a compilation of animation by young people from across from the world to be screened at the Beijing Olympics.

The five day project took place at the National Media Museum, from Tuesday 25- Saturday 29 March. The project enabled the young people to work with professional animator David Bunting who had previously worked on animation for The Tigger Movie and Thunderbirds and understand the different stages and processes that go into making animation.

"I am very proud of the achievements of the youngsters involved with the project,” said Shazia Nazir, Extended Schools Project Manager for Heaton and Manningham who selected the children to take part in the workshops at the Museum. “They’ve learnt lots of new skills and worked very hard as a team to produce the finished piece. It has been extremely well received by all involved and working with the National Media Museum on this project has exceeded our expectations"

David Bunting delivered the animation workshop for ASIFA (the International Association of Animated Film) The ASIFA Workshop Group is a global movement represented in 23 countries and on 3 continents. Every year a worldwide animation project, composed of several regional children’s animation workshops, is realised. The films created are presented at some of the world's principle animation festivals. The project has been supported by the Lottery through the UK Film Council’s First Light Movies initiative who funded the film and inspire young people throughout the UK to make films reflecting the diversity of their lives.
The film will also be screened at Bradford Animation Festival in November 2008 and the Co-op Young Filmmakers festival in October 2008.
