In February 2008 the college held an open evening to celebrate the sporting elite and the opening of the school's new facilities. There were demonstrations of golf, archery, karate, dance mats, fitness suite, trampolining and karting. Danny Crates, World Champion, Paralympic Champion, European Champion and Paralympic World Cup Winning athlete gave a very inspirational speech at the evening and met with many of the students taking part.

Westbourne students's are very keen on sport and the school runs many sports teams in various different activities. Below is a summary of the years' successes.

Notable performances:
Curtis Pryke and Charlie Gilbert (1st place in Hurdles). Tomi Akintaju and Kyle Hammond (2nd place 100m).

Just a great team effort and support between the boys and girls.

Notable performances:
Taylor West and Louis Summers both competing against each other to win both the ‘A’ and ‘B’ string high jump competition.

Notable performances:
Many of the Yr 10 football team were also playing in the Suffolk Cup Football final (vs Claydon) the same evening yet still gave 100%. Jay Grimes taking first place in the 200m and Long Jump.

• Suffolk Schools Championship (Round 2) – 1 qualified

Notable performances:
At the Chantry Park event Sian Starling and Faye Handebeaux gave excellent accounts of themselves as ‘first timers’ and recorded very respectable times.

Excellent compulsory and voluntary routines from Karl Downes, Chris Harvey, Adam Prentice and Oliver Quinton.

Reaching the ¼ finals of the Suffolk Cup, Daniel sorrel scoring 7 goals against Stoke and being runners up in the Ipswich 5-a-side tournament.

Northgate away first game of the season, starting with 10 men and then losing another due to injury. Held them to 1 – 1 until 5 minutes before full time.
