During Shine Week Clacton County High School staged their first original musical ‘Sounds Like Teen Spirit’ which was written by CCHS Drama teachers, Sarah Cooper and Anna Wade. Set in a faded seaside resort in 1995, the story follows the events of the end of year prom, where relationships break down and new relationships form. After the tragic events of the prom night the musical follows the lives of the students as they leave school and enter the big wide world. In the second half the action moved to 2008 where the ex-students discover that however hard you try, you cannot leave your past behind. The musical featured original songs written by CCHS Music teacher, Dan Austin, along with hits from the 90’s including those from Oasis, Pulp, Blur, Take That and the Spice Girls. The show was a virtual sell-out for all five performances, with enthusiastic audiences each night, and the forty plus strong cast excelled themselves and grew further into their roles with each show. There were many outstanding individual performances, too many to name. Congratulations to all the dancers, chorus, main characters, band members, directors, choreographers and technical crew for a magnificent show.
