Simonside Gardening Club

Simonside Gardening Club is run by Mrs Wilson and Mrs Gibson on a Thursday lunchtime. We have a small group of dedicated volunteers who come along every week. We have planted and grown very successfully Potatoes, Leeks, Tomatoes, Herbs and Sunflowers. On Thursday 3rd July we harvested our Potatoes and Leeks. The children involved had a fantastic time and were thrilled to see the final result. The potatoes were weighed and we managed to grow 1kg in total (not bad for the first time !!)

Year 7 Business groups at BBEC have been taking part in a "Growing" project as part of Food and Farming Year, growing food plants and herbs to market and sell to the public. They have grown a variety of food plants and herbs. All profits will be given to SCOPE, the school's chosen charity for the year. At the end of the project, Form 7N were asked to research Food and Farming Year and produce a podcast. This piece of work by Kiran Chauhan, Andrew Jamieson, Dhaval Jasani and Syed Zaidi was agreed by the group to be one of the best.
